15/09/2016 - Report of Christian Aid tax seminar prepared by Hannah Grene PDF Print E-mail

Last year, Christian Aid held an excellent seminar on the human rights impact of tax and fiscal policy. The keynote speaker was Professor Philip Alston, UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, who made a compelling case for looking at tax policy as a human rights issue, but the real strength of the conference was the diversity of views represented, leading to some great exchanges between those upholding the status quo - particularly with regard to Ireland's sacred 12.5% corporation tax rate, and those seeking change. The report of the conference, prepared by Hannah Grene, and updated with new recommendations by Christian Aid, is available here.
