Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) Ireland - Labour Market Analysis
Barncat was commissioned to undertake a study of the current labour market in Ireland and its implications for VSO Ireland, which sends skilled professionals on two year assignments to the developing world. This study explored motivation and incentive to volunteer, as well as perceived barriers to volunteering, and fed directly into VSO Ireland's marketing and recruitment strategy. This project was undertaken by Hannah Grene, Barncat Director in conjunction with Eva Early. Eva is also Information and Communications Officer with Volunteer Centres Ireland, and her expertise was invaluable in completing this report. While much of the information gathered remains confidential to VSO Ireland, an executive summary for general circulation is available here. What they said:
Hannah grasped immediately the scope of the terms of reference and understood exactly what VSO needed. We were impressed by her commitment to the desk research and speed at organising interviews and focus groups within a very short time frame, plus her suggestions along the way that boosted the quality of the research. Barncat Consulting delivered a comprehensive and analytical report that is now informing recruitment strategies.
