IHREC - Capacity building project
In November 2014, Barncat was commissioned to implement the final year of a capacity building partnership between the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, the Malawi Human Rights Commission and the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone. As part of this project, Andrea Breslin and Hannah Grene delivered training on research and report writing in Freetown, Sierra Leone in February 2015 and in Lilongwe, Malawi in June 2015. The two day training course took a practical approach to covering best practice in preparing, researching and writing thematic human rights reports and shadow reports to UN treaty bodies. Other activities included a professional learning visit and remote support on technical aspects of a human rights commission's work.
