EU Fundamental Rights Agency - drafting comparative report on the experiences of people with disabilities in five EU member States
The EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) conducted a multi-annual study on the right of people with disabilities to independent living, looking specifically at the ongoing process of persons with disabilities moving from large residential institutions to homes in the community across Europe.
The research looked at five EU member states: Bulgaria, Finland, Ireland, Italy and Slovakia. Hannah was employed as the national researcher in Ireland in 2017, conducting interviews and focus groups with service providers, local and national government officials, service users and their families and compiling a national report. She was then asked to draft the comparative report, drawing on all five national reports and associated qualitative data. The report will be launched in Brussels in December 2018.
